Tyco Electronics developed a high-power interface, the Mag45 Power over Ethernet (PoE) Plus PSE-ICM connector, to meet both IEEE 802.3AF/AT and PoETec specifications. The interface design combines a RJ-45 connector with integrated gigabit magnetics and an embedded PoE Plus controller board, allowing data and power to be transmitted over the same Ethernet cable via existing Cat5 infrastructures. This latest development utilizes PoE technology to offer a high current capacity up to 600 mA per port. Additional features include a surge-protected system with single voltage feeding, a low channel resistance and a compact, EMI-optimized and thermal design.
