Barely six months since the ground was broken for the new offices, a foundation stone has been laid at the site of the new German Branch of Mitsubishi Electric Europe in Balcke-Dürr-Allee, Ratingen. The ceremony, which was attended by the Mayor of Ratingen, Mr Klaus Pesch, followed tradition by sealing a time capsule into the foundations which contained amongst other things a German and Japanese newspaper and a bottle of beer.

President of Mitsubishi Electric Europe German Branch, Mr Yoji Saito, commented, "This time capsule symbolises the strong bonds between our Japanese parent company and the German Branch, which is one of our most important sites outside Japan. The new building is a strong investment in the future".

Balcke-Dürr-Allee in Ratingen-Ost will be the site for the German Branch of Mitsubishi Electric from autumn 2015. The 9,000 square metre site will house approximately 16,000 square metres of office space over five and a half levels, providing modern offices and communications facilities as well as ample exhibition space. Additionally an underground garage will offer around 500 parking spaces. When planning the new building, Mitsubishi Electric placed importance in reduced energy consumption and the protection of resources (LEED Gold - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
