Fieldbus standards call for a defined terminating resistor on both ends of a bus trunk as a measure to avoid signal reflections. Two compact terminating resistor type 9418 are designed for explosion-protected FF H1 installations. Two build types are suitable for use in Zone 1 and Zone 21: an Ex i terminator for intrinsically safe/FISCO fieldbus installations, and an Ex m model for intrinsically unsafe power trunks. Designed to fit in M20 cable glands, 9418 terminators can be easily attached to cable entries.

The May issue features a Preview on Europe's biggest measuring technology fair, Sensor+Test 2013. This is supplemented by a Focus on Sensors, Test & Measurement that includes product news, as well as a technical article and an interesting application. Another case study highlights the use of an RFID system in a Chinese engine manufacturing plant. Furthermore, IEN Europe has an article that asks the question Is There a Future for the PLC? . Throughout the magazine, you will also find brand new products launched at the recent HANNOVER MESSE, for example a Motor Control Center for predictive maintenance.
