Fail-safe CPUs meet high safety requirements

The Siemens Industry Automation Division developed 2 new fail-safe CPUs for applications in the manufacturing industry: the Simatic CPU 414F-3 PN/DP and the interface module IM 154-8F PN/DP CPU. Both CPUs meet the high safety requirements according to the relevant standards EN 954-1 up to Cat. 4, IEC 62061 up to SIL 3, and EN ISO 13849-1 up to PL e. Via the Ethernet the integrated web server enables information, such as status and diagnostics data or clock synchronization data, to be retrieved over the Intranet / Internet. Standard and safety programs can run simultaneously on the same CPU and the CPUs are programmed with the STEP 7 engineering system. The S7 Distributed Safety option package contains a library of TÜV-certified function blocks, including functions such as emergency stop or door monitoring.
