Switching to ExxonMobil’s latest high performance synthetic refrigeration oil helped a Turkish brewer save €20,300 in a year. The use of Mobil Gargoyle Arctic™ SHC NH 68 in the company’s refrigeration compressors helped to cut oil consumption by 73%.

The advanced synthetic oil also helped to reduce compressor operating temperatures by 80C, which cut energy use. Furthermore, its enhanced operating life extended drain intervals, which helped reduce waste oil disposal.

Elevated oil consumption

The brewery was experiencing heightened operating temperatures in all 11 of its GEA Grasso and Sabroe refrigeration compressors, which was contributing to elevated oil consumption. It asked local ExxonMobil distributor, Makyağsan Engineering Services, for assistance in selecting a lubricant that would help overcome these problems.

Makyağsan, in partnership with ExxonMobil engineers, recommended a switch to Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC NH 68, a synthetic lubricant specifically developed for use in both screw and reciprocating refrigeration compressors using ammonia as a refrigerant. The advanced oil offers long operating life compared with mineral lubricants, excellent low temperature fluidity and good solvency for reduced deposit build-up.

The switch to Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC NH 68 delivered a range of benefits that contributed to an annual saving of €20,300.
