Such the high-resistance strain gauges are demanded in applications of low power consumption, for instance the applications of battery-powered wireless sensors and remote portable testing equipment.
Moreover, compared to the strain gauges of normal resistance of 350Ω, the bridge circuit of sensors built with the high-resistance strain gauges of 5000Ω can permit higher excitation voltage, leading to a higher signal to noise ratio in the bridge output signal.
The strain gauges of higher resistance can be manufactured by BCM SENSOR to have different gauge patterns as shown by the pictures above.
