Process and plant engineers looking for a simple, economical way to measure pH/ORP in pressurized tanks and main lines will find the precision S656CD sensor electrode installed with the S675 hot tap assembly from Sensorex simplifies installation and maintenance to reduce instrument installed and life cycle costs. The flat-surface, self-cleaning electrode combined with the rugged, cost-effective CPVC S675 insertion assembly is ideal for use in a wide range of dirty applications for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment, offering superior accuracy, lower maintenance, longer life and a lower operating cost. It features standard HT gels and reduced breakage potential, with four protective pads to reduce pH glass breakage. Its flat surface measuring glass design reduces coating and build-up in turbulent flows to extend electrode life and reduce technician maintenance activities. The electrode offers a measurement range of 0-14 pH (0-12 pH without Na+ error), and the S656CD-ORP ±2000 mV for ORP. It operates over 10 to 85°C depending on the maximum pressure desired, which can be up to 5.5 bars. The S675 Insertion Assembly uses a 1” full-port ball valve to allow installation or removal without system shutdown. It can be fully retracted through the ball valve, which is then closed, isolating the electrode and holder from the pressurized system. This is accomplished without draining the tank or de-pressurizing the line. The user-friendly assembly features an easily-adjustable insertion depth, which allows the user to position the sensor in a turbulent area of the tank or line to optimize the flat surface electrode’s self-cleaning feature. The special electrode used in the insertion assembly allows it to be mounted in any position, even through the bottom of a tank with its measuring surface facing upward. In abrasive applications, the electrode is usually positioned close to the pipe wall, an assembly well-suited for measurements in liquids with high suspended solids and for measurements in viscous liquids. The S656CD insertion pH/ORP electrode with the S675 Hot-Tap Assembly is typically installed in acid neutralization systems. pH is monitored with these systems prior to discharge of water back into disposal or sewer lines to prevent wear and corrosion of the pipe line.
