Inverters control two custom-designed 10m diameter rotating platforms, for iL Maestro– a popular Middle Eastern TV programme -during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
I.Network automation, Lenze’s drive partner in the Lebanon, provided a complete solution for the project, which was designed to exact customer specification and delivered in record time. The project included engineering for the platforms, two 5-ton customised modular mechanical structural assemblies of 10m diameter, each driven by a 2.2kw AC Motor with a variable speed clockwise and anti-clockwise functionality provided by a 4kw SMD drive.
The specification also called for flexible operation with soft start and stop, and adjustable speed and direction of rotation, all of which were provided by the SMD variable speed drive. In addition, the platforms had to be simple to operate, a requirement that provided by a 3- position selectors witch and potentiometer connected to the drive.
As well as the platforms and drive system I.Network Automation also supplied, as part of its overall responsibility, an off set area and an additional rotating collector for embedded lighting. The result is an open, flexible modular system, greatly appreciated by the customer, which allows easy enhancement and modification for future transmissions.
The SMD range of AC drives brings inverter drive functionality and efficiency to a wider range of simple motor control applications. Power ratings for the drives are from 0.25 to 22kW, and include a range of international voltage options to support export sales. The series also features the EPM memory chip that can cut programming and service time by 90% forOEM manufacturers and systems integrators.
