Airbus is relying on Nexans' cable technology. In a new, five-year, global supply contract, worth around Euro 200 million, Nexans will design, manufacture and supply 130,000 km of specialized cables for Airbus modern aircraft family from the single-aisle A320 Neo, the A350 series up to the flagship double-deck A380. The new global supply contract, which builds on Nexans' existing 20-year partnership with Airbus, covers the supply of the hook-up, power, data and fire resistant cables that represent some 95 percent of the total cable requirement on an aircraft. The exact amount of cables on each aircraft varies according to its specification, from 200 km to 600 km depending on the aircraft model.

"We are delighted to be extending our long standing relationship with Airbus with this new global supply contract that confirms their confidence in Nexans as a major player in the aircraft cable sector," says Yvan Duperray, Nexans' Aerospace Sales Director. "The proven capability of Nexans' innovative aircraft cables to save weight was a crucial element. However, our attention to quality, delivery and logistics was equally important. In fact, the even greater emphasis we now place on these factors was recognised earlier this year when the Airbus procurement team presented Nexans with the 'Best Improver' award in their annual Electrics Supliers awards."
