RENEX South America, which premiered 27-29 November 2013 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, will lead to US$ 44 million of new business in the South American renewable energy market during the next 12 months. The projection is based upon on-site surveys conducted by the event's organizer, Hannover Fairs Sulamérica.
RENEX South America hosted 46 companies demonstrating products and technologies for the wind, photovoltaic, solar thermal, biofuels, biogas, biomass, and small hydro plants (SHPs) sectors and attracted 3,250 trade visitors from eight countries.

"Electricity usage in Brazil is expected to grow 5 percent annually in the coming years. In order to keep up with this demand, Brazil will have to increase energy production by 50 percent during the next 10 years, and much of that will come from renewables," said Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Managing Board, Deutsche Messe AG. "With RENEX South America we have established a platform that highlights the many business opportunities in one of the world's most promising renewable energy markets."
"Investing in renewable energies should be part of any Government's commitment," said Ivan de Pellegrin, President of the Development and Investment Promotion Agency of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. "In our case, we went even further and included two of these sources, wind and biofuels, among 23 strategic sectors of our industrial policy. RENEX itself represents this commitment."
