Yamaha FA continues the improvement and extension of its SCARA family. For instance, the available arm lengths now range from 120mm to 1200mm, and the maximum payload from 1kg to 50kg. Thus, these improvements enable to accelerate a broad variety of pick and place, packaging/de-packaging, and mechanical assembly tasks. The YK-XG and YK-TW orbital SCARA series include enhanced features such as fast R-axis rotation with large offset loads, through placing the tip-rotation axis directly in line with the speed-reducing gear, leveraging a specially designed hollow motor.

Wider size, efficient movement, simplified maintenance and long-term accuracy

The up to date models feature 45% faster X-Y axis speed than previous robots. They reach 7.6m/s, 35% greater angular speed up to 2.3m/s, and 93% higher R-axis speed at 1700°/s. In addition, Yamaha’s SCARA robots now benefit from higher noise immunity and boost reliability thanks to the use of magnetic position resolvers instead of optical encoders. Consequently, they eliminate the effects of contamination such as dust or grease. The SCARA range offers options for system integrators, including YK-XGP dust-proof and drip-proof models (resistance against environmental contaminants), YK-XGC clean-room robots, YK-XGS wall-mount and inverse configurations, and the YK-XR series for cost-sensitive applications.
