At Motek 2019, Yamaha FA section showcased its on-the-fly vision for faster robotic automation. The on-the-fly visual inspection and alignment relies on technologies perfected in precision surface-mount electronics assembly to inspect and align picked parts at full speed, reducing tact time of processes such as palletizing, de-palletizing, or mechanical assembly. The demonstration highlighted the potential time savings and productivity gains of this technology applies on the YK-400XR SCARA robot.

Demonstration of linear, multi-axis, cartesian, and SCARA robots

The combination between the SCARA robot and the on-the-fly visual inspection technology provides a unique single-vendor opportunity to simplify and streamline system integration. The broad portfolio comprises drivers and controllers including the advanced RCX340, the LCM100 programmable linear conveyor module, iVY plug-and-play vision systems, and accessories such as electric grippers and high-megapixel cameras with flexible lens options.
