The Caster Analyst on-line monitoring system from SKF analyses process loads and temperatures via load and temperature sensors, positioned on the roll lines. Measured data are sent to the SKF Analyst program located on a remote PC server, which allows mill operators to adjust taper settings, modify process speeds and identify causes for production stops like bent rolls, misalignment and cooling problems. The PC-server communicates with up to 63 RSE units via a modern field bus technology. This on-line monitoring system allows for in-line adjustments to be made and thus secure productivity as well as product quality.
