The eleventh edition of MaintenanceStories took place on Wednesday, November 13th, at the Science and Technology Park "Kilometro Rosso" in Bergamo, Italy. The event, organized by TIMGlobal Media since 2005, is dedicated to maintenance and plant managers.
The day was opened by the President of TIMGlobal Media Orhan Erenberk, and had Prof. Sergio Cavalieri (Department of Engineering, University of Bergamo) as chairman. The first speech was made by Eng. Stefano Dolci, Head of Maintenance of Malpensa airport in Milano, Italy. "Management and control of maintenance activities at Malpensa via mobile devices. The CAM System" was the title of the report presented by Dolci, who emphasized the importance of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology for improvements in maintenance operations.

Afterwards, international guest Eng. Suat Sagiroglu, Maintenance Engineering Manager of Turkish Technic, the company in charge for the aircraft maintenance of Turkish Airlines, focused on the importance of defining the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for maintenance. Erika Vaniglia and Paolo Albieri have also reported on the most effective solutions related to the production process through to engineering maintenance.

After a short break, Prof. Guido Belforte from Politecnico di Torino presented a case study in the field of "compressed air", closely tied to the following speech, made by the Eng. Vincenzo Indelicato of Acoset. He attracted the attention of the audience by bringing practical cases of maintenance in lift installation, revealing the potential for cost savings.

In the afternoon, after two short speeches by Eng. Francesco Cangialosi and the editor of Manutenzione T&M Alessandro Ariu, the next speaker was Eng. Felice Cottino, current President of the association that takes care of the maintenance activities of Italian airports, already responsible for maintenance of Malpensa and Linate airports. The attention was focused on the importance of maintenance for every detail that can be found in an airport. Cottino compared an airport to a city for the amount of services and facilities to manage.

Eng. Gabriele Guzzetti, Industrial Engineering Manager at Whirlpool, showed some cases of operational improvement within the company, while Domenico Tempone of Hytorc ended the day with the technological solutions and procedures for the proper maintenance of flanged bodies.

The main sponsors of the day were SKF, Emanuele Mascherpa, Teseo and Omron. Other sponsors were IBM/Primeur, Brammer, Nuova CMME, Strumentazione Industriale, Conrad, Pruftechnik, Repcom/Sonotech, Timken, Master Tools, SPS Italia, Karberg & Hennemann, ABB, USAG - SWK Utensilerie, ISE e NTN-SNR.
