In a partnership with TxV Aero Composites, SFS intec re-designs an aircraft storage-bin bracket. The bracket was originally in aluminum and now will be made of Victrex AE 25 composites overmolded with Victrec PEEK polymer.
Unique hybrid molding process
The overmolded hybrid composite part from TxV is qualified for use in commercial aircraft in order to reduce weight (up to 60%), part count and eliminate secondary processes. Moreover, the overmolding process suits components that must withstand high levels of mechanical stress and geometries requiring multiple processing steps where conventional machining is used.
