TIMGlobal has returned to visit the Canton Fair, which is the largest industrial fair in China and the world. We are closely following the 138th edition of the fair, which is widely regarded as a showcase of China's foreign trade. The 138th session of the event kicked off on Wednesday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. The fair is held twice a year, in spring and autumn. The first phase, which runs from 15th to 19th October, shows products in the following categories: Manufacturing, Electronics, Wheeled Vehicles, Lighting and Electrical, and Hardware. This time, the event is being covered by editor Onur Dil.

Among the approximately 30,000 participating enterprises, there are over 2,600 Canton Fair Brand Enterprises with exceptional innovation capabilities and over 9,000 national-level high-tech enterprises, single-product champions, and "small giants" specialising in niche sectors.

According to the organisers, more than 207,000 buyers from 217 export markets have pre-registered for the session of the fair, reflecting a 14.1% increase compared to the previous session.

At the ongoing 138th Canton Fair, Chinese businesses are pioneering niche sectors through cross-sector integration and combining technology with consumer needs. Innovations at the fair reveal a new paradigm for the 'Made in China' leap. Driven by the alignment of technological innovation with market demand, this transformation is reshaping China's foreign trade.

A notable development is the increasing use of service robots. According to the event organisers, service robots are expected to drive growth in transactions at the next China Import and Export Fair. This will showcase China's innovative capabilities and bolster efforts to help service robot companies seize opportunities to expand into international markets. Analysis by research firm Precedence Research suggests that the global market size for service robots will growat an average annual rate of 15 percent over the next decade.
