NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has expanded its drive electronics portfolio with the NORDAC PRO SK 500P, a control cabinet frequency inverter designed for a broad range of industrial drive applications. The unit supports both asynchronous and synchronous motors and can operate with or without encoder feedback.

The inverter provides overload capacity of up to 200%, enabling use in demanding applications such as lifting systems. Integrated motor control functions are intended to maintain stable, load-independent speed control while supporting dynamic starting and stopping operations. An integrated POSICON positioning function allows absolute positioning and incremental feed movements on continuous-loop axes. The device also supports synchronisation of multiple drives on a common axis and can perform sequential control of several axes with encoder evaluation, making it suitable for warehouse automation and material handling systems.

Simplified integration

For communication, the inverter incorporates a multi-protocol Ethernet interface that can be configured for PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT or POWERLINK via parameter settings. An integrated PLC operates as a soft PLC for drive-related control tasks, enabling local processing functions within machine architectures. According to NORD, this can reduce reliance on a higher-level PLC in selected applications and simplify system integration. The inverter series covers power ratings from 0.25 kW to 160 kW. Models up to 22 kW are available in a book-size format intended to reduce control cabinet space requirements. Additional application-oriented functions include PI control for pump systems and encoderless CFC open-loop injection control for dynamic motion applications.

The NORDAC PRO family is offered in three configuration packages, including machine inverter and application inverter variants for networked automation environments.
