Hannover Messe 2011: French Mechanical Engineering Sector Focused on the Environment

Just as wind turbines would be inconceivable without roller bearings, environmental protection wouldn’t be possible without clean technologies. By choosing "Innovation for sustainable growth" as the motto for its national showcase, France, the official Partner Country of Hannover Messe 2011, has signaled its profound understanding of these important interrelationships and highlighted a key area of expertise of French companies and research institutes.
Not least thanks to its position at the interface of a wide range of technological innovations, the mechanical engineering sector has a central role to play in the universal drive to meet the ecological challenges confronting us today. More than any other branch of industry, it has been shaped by an increasingly strong focus on sustainable development and long-term growth.
"Innovation and industrial development of cutting edge technologies are essential to sustainable growth," explained Oliver Frese, Deutsche Messe’s Senior Vice-President responsible for Hannover Messe. "The need to develop clean processes and new, environmentally-friendly technologies for cities places major demands on the innovative potential of companies. That’s why industrial partnerships, such as those that are being forged with France in the context of Hannover Messe, are so important to the future of industry."
France has ranked among Hannover Messe’s top exhibiting nations for many years. Hannover is where many well-known French companies choose to launch their latest innovations.
