Indi.An GmbH has introduced the Enterprise Interfaces for its browser-based HMI/SCADA system QuickHMI. The visualization now doubles as a data hub: values that QuickHMI Lynx reads from controllers, Modbus devices, MQTT sources and databases are made available to other systems through a built-in OPC UA server, a built-in MQTT broker, and OPC UA PubSub.

Until now, getting data from the plant into an MES or a control system required an extra layer: a separate MQTT broker, a dedicated OPC UA server, or middleware to bridge the two. The Enterprise Interfaces remove that layer. An MES connects directly to QuickHMI, reads values and writes back. A control system subscribes to topics on the built-in broker. And for plants that only need to send, QuickHMI publishes cyclically over OPC UA PubSub without anything connecting to it at all, every value carrying its quality flag and timestamp.

Control down to the individual tag

What leaves the system is entirely up to the operator. For each of the three paths, it can be defined which tags are exposed and how: switched on or off, read-only or read and write. This applies to all tags at once, to an entire data source, or down to a single tag. A plant can therefore publish process values without a single setpoint becoming writable.

18 data source types

The Enterprise Interfaces complement a catalog of 18 data source types: Modbus as master and as slave, S7 via Put/Get as well as symbolic with and without TLS, TwinCAT, Allen-Bradley, OPC UA, OPC UA PubSub, MQTT including Secure WebSocket, BACnet, KNX, databases, InfluxDB, web services and the file system. An open Java interface allows users to add data sources of their own. OPC UA PubSub is not only an output path but a data source in its own right, QuickHMI acts as both publisher and subscriber. The Enterprise Interfaces are part of the Enterprise Edition. As with all QuickHMI editions, no additional runtime or client licenses apply.

About QuickHMI
QuickHMI is a browser-based HMI/SCADA system. It consists of a graphical editor for Windows and a platform-independent runtime for Windows, Linux, Docker and Raspberry Pi. Operators work in a standard browser, in the viewer, or through a mobile app. In the editor, SVG control elements can be generated from a description with AI assistance rather than taken from a symbol library. QuickHMI is licensed per developer; runtimes are included in unlimited numbers, and data sources, tags, alarms, pages and concurrent sessions are unlimited in all commercial editions. A free Community Mode is available for private, non-commercial use.
