To improve efficiency of its stamping processes for future production runs, Ford Mexico worked with Altair to explore the possibility of using Altair's machine learning and predictive analytics solution to support its business objectives. Authors: John Fisher, Senior Sales Director EMEA, Altair & Alberto Ochoa Frías, D&R and Stamping Process Engineer, Ford
Predictive maintenance prevents unplanned downtime. Fixed maintenance intervals, however, are preventive in nature, as true prediction requires real-time system status information and intelligent data evaluation. The Digital Twin Starter Kit from Bosch Digital Twin Industries and Pepperl+Fuchs offers an easy way to get started.
The I/O module controls stepper motors with Modbus/TCP, Ethernet/IP, or PROFINET interface to host PC, PLC or PAC
SPE device for 1 km network range via any 2-wire connection
According to the International Society of Automation, factories worldwide lose 5-20% of their productive capacity to unplanned downtime. With supply chain disruptions increasing, Mitsubishi Electric's predictive maintenance solutions help manufacturers identify equipment failures before they occur, maintaining operational continuity.
Contactless transmission of up to 50 W power and data rates of up to 100 Mbit/s
Enhanced driving safety with AI camera for person detection
Accelerated PLC integration without need for programming
Production data monitoring and analysis for effective, data-driven decisions
IEN Europe interviewed Norman Hartmann, co-founder and CEO of Workerbase GmbH, who introduces the benefits of the Connected Worker Platform concept.
OPC UA is widely used as a data exchange standard that bridges the gap between OT and IT. A key part of this standard consists of extensible information models and companion specifications. However, many solutions based on OPC UA fail to exploit the potential of these information models and companion specifications. This editorial explains the benefits offered by OPC UA information models and how information models interact with the other components in an IoT solution. Author Dr. Christopher Anhalt is Vice President Product Marketing, Softing Industrial Automation GmbH
Maximum productivity requires not only precision manufacturing processes, but also smooth disposal of the generated waste materials. This is exactly where the new, fully automated waste disposal solution from KABELSCHLEPP Hünsborn comes in, which has just been successfully commissioned at the factory of agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO Fendt in Asbach-Bäumenheim, Germany. The intelligent conveyor system ensures a smooth flow of materials – with minimum use of personnel and maximum efficiency.

An energy monitoring system for sustainable enterprises
Leuze SmartID-Edge controls a network of identification systems and sensors for track-and-trace requirements in production and the supply chain. Secure communication between 1D scanners or 2D camera systems takes place at edge level using OPC UA and full integration of the AutoID Companion Specification. The advantage: Each object to be identified is not only represented by its code but also mapped on a virtual tag in the edge system.
