The SMM3000A80024C from Powerbox is a high peak load power supply designed for medical laser applications. Based on digital control and high energy storage management techniques, the power supply provides 2.25kW repetitive peak power to medical lasers with high efficiency. Complying with medical safety standards (such as IEC60601-1 3rd), it also includes a thermo-controlled cooling system for silent operation. The capacitor charger delivers a level of protection, primary to secondary main output of 2xMOOP, and 2xMOPP to auxiliary output. In order to accommodate different capacitor banks and applications, the output voltage can be adjusted from 0 to 800VDC (600VDC nominal) with an output current of 5.5A at nominal. Thanks to its automatic current controller, the power envelope is always within safe limits, reducing capacitor aging and overstressing of components.

Longer lifetime through reduction of capacitor aging and overstressing of components

The power supply has a built-in microprocessor that constantly monitors the charging status, reporting end of charge and discharge level, and all protection warnings due to abnormal operation (such as over-temperature, over-voltage and current) as well. Moreover, the SMM3000A80024C reduces line disturbance thanks to a high efficiency power factor corrector (PFC), soft-start circuitry, filtering, and its housing (six-sided shielded case). Its fans are thermo-controlled, regulating their speed to the minimum required for a safe operation and reducing audible noise to a minimum. Last, it delivers an auxiliary output voltage of 24VDC, reducing the need for an additional power supply to power laser controller and interfaces. For additional power, the SMM3000A80024C can be connected in parallel.
