ODVA – the organization that manages the EtherNet/IP technology – is at the forefront of industry initiatives and technologies that are delivering the next level of productivity improvements in automation of the manufacturing enterprise. The organization’s Industry Conference brought together over 50 companies and 150 attendees to engage in working sessions, discover the latest in technical developments, and hear from leaders in industry about best practices and techniques.

A rich program

This year’s event was rich with content, with technical presentations on:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Time Sensitive Networking]
  • Digital Twinning
  • Constrained Devices and Networks

The Annual Meeting of Members was officially held on Thursday 11 October, and it provided the organization the opportunity to review the work the members achieved in the past membership term, as well as look forward to exciting developments on the horizon.

In addition, ODVA featured keynote sessions from speakers on the topics in industry that are most impactful to companies that make and sell products incorporating ODVA technologies.

EtherNet/IP in the process industry

This year, ODVA featured a keynote session from large end user in the process industries who discussed the deployment of EtherNet/IP in its facilities, as well as keynote panel on developments in Ethernet layers 1-3/4.
“Change is a collection of processes, not a discrete event,” added Katherine Voss, ODVA’s president and CEO. “ODVA’s standards development process and international ecosystem of members who participated are key drivers of change for industrial communication technologies (ICT).  Two major industrial ICT changes on display at this year’s event included acceleration of Ethernet’s replacement of traditional fieldbuses and adoption by the process industries.”
