A recent product from Prüftechnik Condition Monitoring presents VIBGUARD XP, a new version of the Online Condition Monitoring system VIBGUARD which is especially suited for the wind industry. The new device fits for onshore and offshore applications, and is DNV GL certified (Det Norske Veritas - Germanischer Lloyd). This certification brings lower insurance rates for wind park operators.
VIBGUARD XP collects signals simultaneously on 20 channels and processes them, in parallel, to characteristic overall vibration values (e. g. according to ISO 10816-21/VDI 3834), spectra and time waveforms. This keeps reaction times short and enables diagnosis measurements on every measurement point of the drive train if a fault is identified.
With the addition of the hybrid triaxial sensor, which measures down to 0 Hz, movement of the tower and even ice on the blades can be detected. An event recording functionality allows the capture of transient events with a pre- and post-trigger time. The new condition monitoring system provides an advanced MODBUS TCP interface which allows a seamless integration between the WEA controller and the Online CMS. This represents the right combination of integration and modularity.
