Conventional thermocouples may encounter high abrasion resulting from contacting measurement points and harsh surroundings. The new infrared sensor optris CS extends the lifetime of measuring fields due to its non-contact measuring concept. Its standardized thermocouple connection allows the use of already existing measuring lines. The pyrometer covers a temperature range between -40°C and 1030°C. Additionally there is a new LED display. The electronic display unit not only serves as a targeting support for sensor alignment but the LED self-diagnosis also displays the condition of the pyrometer (e.g. overheating of sensor). Parallel to the new alarm output on the device (open collector), a visual alarm can be set through the LED. A temperature code signal rounds off the concept of the pyrometer. Its robust design makes it dependable in ambient temperatures up to 85°C without additional cooling. Besides the programmable thermo element, 0-10 V and 0-5 V outputs, there is the possibility to integrate the temperature sensor into the license free optris CompactConnect software via USB. Thus, besides temperature monitoring a complete parameterization of the sensor are possible.
