OMRON has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire industrial and rugged computing specialist OnLogic, a move aimed at expanding its industrial automation portfolio with advanced edge computing capabilities. The transaction is expected to close around January 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
The acquisition reflects growing demand for data processing and AI-enabled computing directly at the industrial edge, where manufacturers increasingly require computing resources alongside real-time automation systems. By combining OnLogic’s configurable industrial computing platforms with OMRON’s expertise in sensing, control, motion, robotics and safety technologies, the companies aim to support more complex industrial applications that require increased processing power, connectivity and intelligent decision-making. OnLogic brings experience in rugged, AI-capable computing systems designed for deployment in demanding environments, together with a build-to-order production model and an established customer base across multiple industrial sectors. OMRON contributes its global automation portfolio and extensive experience in factory automation and control.
According to the companies, the combination is intended to strengthen the connection between machine data, edge computing and AI technologies within industrial environments. Future developments may include solutions that enable manufacturers to translate operational data and AI-driven insights into faster production decisions and process optimization.
Following completion of the transaction, OnLogic will continue operating as an independent business within the OMRON Group, retaining its brand identity, headquarters in Vermont, global office network and existing management team.
