TDK-Lambda is introducing 15kW and 22.5kW scalable power systems to the GENESYS+™ range of programmable DC power supplies with high power density. They are available in 12 factory-configured output voltages and currents from 0-20V/0-1125A to 0-1500V/0-15A in 2U or 3U heights. The range addresses a very wide market including battery, electric vehicle, component, aerospace and automotive testing, semiconductor fabrication, water treatment, plating and solar panel simulation.
Digital Signal Processing
The two new power levels can be specified to accept three-phase inputs from 170 to 265 VAC or wide-range inputs from 342 to 528 VAC with active power factor correction (PFC). All models can operate in constant current, constant voltage or constant power limit modes and also offer internal resistance simulation. TDK-Lambda's advanced parallel system enables a multiple-unit system to achieve dynamic, ripple and noise performance comparable to a single unit. A simple data link cable enables the control and auxiliary units to auto-configure by detecting the parallel data link and setting their parameters accordingly. The series benefits from DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology and the latest generation of components, including ferrite materials. This enables efficiencies of up to 92%. Less internal waste heat ensures higher performance without compromising reliability and lower audible noise to reduce operator fatigue.
The new 15kW and 22.5kW models are suitable for zero stack rack mounting, measuring 423mm wide, 594.6mm deep and 88mm (2U) or 132.5mm (3U) high. Cooling is achieved by means of variable speed fans that monitor the ambient temperature and the output load. All GENESYS+ models feature a high-contrast, wide-viewing angle LCD display with user-controllable brightness and dimming, and fast up and down programming response times with user-adjustable voltage and current slew rate control. Arbitrary waveform test profiles of up to 100 steps can be generated and stored in four memory cells and activated by commands from the communication ports or front panel controls.
Programming is common to the entire 1kW to 90kW GENESYS+ series. It can be carried out either via front panel controls, remotely via LAN (LXI 1.5), USB 2.0 and RS232/485 communications, or via the isolated analogue control and monitoring (0-5V, 0-10V) provided as standard. Optional interfaces include a choice of EtherCAT, Modbus TCP or GPIB (IEEE488.2). The software package includes software drivers, a waveform generator and a virtual front panel GUI. Safety features are standard on all GENESYS+ power supplies, providing Safe/Auto Restart, Last Setting Memory and built-in protection functions. A blank front panel option, without display, is offered to prevent unauthorised changes to the unit's settings.
The series is safety certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 with CE and UKCA marking to the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives. The GENESYS+ series is also compliant with IEC/EN 61204-3 Class A for conducted and radiated EMI and EMC immunity.
