Müller Industrie-Elektronik develops the new Safety Measuring Module SMM with a security function for the load measurement for overload protection which will be accredited corresponding to the high demands of the safety standard SIL 3 according to EN 61508 and EN 62061 as well as meeting performance level "e", category 3 according to EN ISO 13849-1 in the middle of 2014. The new module in combination with a safety SPS can be implemented in three different construction forms at first, depending on application. It can be implemented locally in a DIN-rail housing for direct switch cabinet assembly (SMM-DR) or line integrated in the measuring line in the robust field housing Unicase 2 (SMM-HD) or can be integrated into a compact force sensor (MULC) as redundant output amplifier. The circuit of the module SMM is identical for all designs. The new security module is offered with an input for a strain gauge or piezo-resistive full-bridge and two 4 .. 20 mA outputs as well as a 24 VDC input for the test function and 24 VDC supply.
