MakerBot, Stratasys’ subsidiary, has developed ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate), a new 3D printing material, expanding its material portfolio. ASA is an engineering-grade material ideally suited for outdoor applications thanks to its high weather-resistant properties. Compared to ABS, it has a stronger ultraviolet (UV), long-term heat, and chemical resistance, which means that it retains better gloss, color, and other properties.

Delivering consistent, dimensionally accurate products

ASA is available for METHOD X, a manufacturing workstation powered by Stratasys whose Circulating Heated Chamber goes up to 100ºC. The use of ASA in combination with Stratasys SR-30 industrial support material grants engineers design freedom, as the parts created by these materials have ±0.2 mm dimensional accuracy and great surface finish.

Precision ASA will start shipping out in November.
