With its new Smart Motor, Lenze combines the simplicity of an AC motor with the technical benefits of an electronic drive control. This offers many advantages, including a reduction in the number of different drive variations by up to 70%, convenient operation via RFID from a smartphone, a flexible range of potential applications and easy handling. Mechanical and plant engineering companies in the field of materials handling technology in particular will enjoy the benefits of this technological quantum leap because it allows mains and starter applications to be carried out considerably more easily with a motor. The new motor is flexible enough to cover speeds from 500 to 2,600 rpm while maintaining constant torque, thanks to more intelligence in the terminal box. Another highlight is the adjustment process itself - as it can take the form of a contactless procedure without addressing or it can be performed at zero voltage using NFC technology. Together with a smartphone app from Lenze, the new motors can be prepared for deployment using "near field communication".
