Megatrends, corporate business strategy, technology roadmaps, specific insights into flagship market sectors for industrial, mobility and instrumentation. Our media-experience at Analog Devices press event in Limerick, Ireland, couldn’t be richer, thanks to high-level presentations held by the company’s top managers, exclusive live demonstrations and the tour of Analog Devices cutting-edge cleanroom.

In its 54 years of activity, Analog Devices has been one of the main actors of the market transforming innovations, being a pioneer – for instance – of crush sensors and solutions for automotive airbag, stability, and rollover systems. ‘’Today, it’s all about being able to take that physical signal and transform it into a different insight. Analog can really be thought as solving the transition from physical to digital interface,’’ said Martin Cotter, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Digital Marketing.

Focusing on megatrends to drive innovation

The picture of today’s technological progress gives back the reflection of a different wave of innovation, based on the combination of various technologies to drive that unique insight mentioned by Martin Cotter. For this reason, Analog Devices is focusing on six megatrends that the company wants to develop in order to continue to drive innovation: Autonomous Transportation and Safety, Automotive Electrification, 5G and Next-Generation Connectivity, Digital Health, Industry 4.0 and Smart Energy, Immersive Customer Experience.

Tackling the main issues across these six big megatrends is what it takes to keep the company’s global footprint and its broad business that, from the headquarters in Boston, was able to grow roots in the very heart of Europe.

Complex measurements: challenge accepted!

5G and other next-generation connectivity solutions will become more and more important to guarantee more reliable connectivity and deliver the accurate sensing needed in industrial factories. Reliable measurement is also at the core of a sustainable world. More and more software skills are demanded, and the expertise required to tackle industrial problems is changing with the ongoing innovation. That’s why Analog Devices designed MeasureWare, a solution made to bridge the gap between the lack of electronic expertise – which is becoming rare today – and the increasing technical complexity.

‘’Today, customers want always more insights, they want to see trends and get data to pull out useful knowledge from it. Adding machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics to machines and devices makes the measurement even more challenging. More measurement means more insights and, therefore, more complex measurements on the way,’’ Lorna Keane, MeasureWare Director, illustrated.

MeasureWare allows fast and precise measurements. It is scalable to volume production and comes with hardware kits to get precision measurement data fast, a software studio – an intuitive tool to easily analyze data and customize application in a flexible way that allows users to get what they want to measure on the fly – and an ecosystem to provide community support.
