Mersen has recently introduced the first comprehensive portfolio of PV components rated for 1500VDC applications. These applications are utility-scale ones mainly in solar farms. In their global differentiating platform of passive components, Mersen Electrical Power offer a wide offering of solution branded HelioProtection® for solar PV market . It encompasses gPV fuses and holders (from 600VDC up to 1500VDC rating), DC switches and Surge Protective Devices.

Since Intersolar Europe 2015 Mersen have launched in the market:

  • New 1500VDC-rated blade-style gPV fuses for direct bolt mounting onto standardized power busbars. These new gPV solutions can be optionally fitted with a striker enabling a remote control capability via a microswitch. With this option the customer benefits from both shorter time of mounting and remote control feature.
  • New HP15M cylindrical gPV fuses with 10x85mm dimensions. These fuses are approved by both IEC (60269-6) and UL ( Listed UL2579) standards. For combiner box application it is recommended to mount these fuses onto brand-new US15M1HEL holders.
  • New STPT2-40K1500V-YPV(M) Surge-Trap® SPD. All Surge-Trap® Pluggable PV solutions are reversible and they include the optimized dynamic thermal disconnection system. The 1500VDC SPD does therefore not require any back-up fuse, just like the 600VDC and 1000VDC models of the same series.
