"2011 was a banner year for Weidmüller with many highlights. We will conclude this year with record turnover well in excess of 600 million euro," reported CEO Dr. Peter Köhler at the annual meeting in Detmold. "Thus we are above the growth rates projected for our sector by industry experts."
The executive board believes that a major reason for this success was the expansion of Weidmüller's international subsidiaries. "In February 2011, we acquired our long standing partner Conexel in Brazil. We've also strengthened our presence in Russia and India," explained Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Volpert Briel. "We are now even closer to our customers and better able to offer our excellent local services around the globe."
Köhler pointed to the opening of the Weidmüller Academy Asia as a highlight in 2011. This centre in Shanghai is used for training and expertise networking. "We also rely in China on a network of partnerships with universities and researchers in order to support our staff and develop new technologies. So we continue to develop our rapidly growing Chinese market."
