The compact optical encoders of the KI40 series are designed for all standard applications. With this encoder family, Kübler placed special emphasis on worldwide usability, with suitable interfaces and mechanical dimensions complying with US and Asian standards. Thanks to their compact size of 40 mm, they are suitable for tight installation spaces and small machines and appliances. This allows a simple and fast installation.

The incremental encoders are available in shaft or blind hollow shaft versions. The blind hollow shaft has a diameter of 8 mm. Their IP64 protection level and their and wide temperature range of -20...+70°C allows a reliable use of these encoders also in harsh environments. Thanks to their optical sensors, these devices are 100% insensitive to magnetic fields. Their resolution reaches 2500 pulses per revolution. In their 5V power supply version, these devices have an RS422 interface; their 10...30 V power supply version features a push-pull interface.

These encoders feature, besides the sturdy aluminum housing, a robust bearing structure in Safety-LockT Design. This is the reason for their particular resistance against vibrations, shocks and installation errors, ensuring in the same time a long service life.

The short-circuit-proof outputs and the reverse polarity protection of the supply voltage guarantee a safe and error-free installation of the encoder.
Based on their characteristics, the incremental encoders of the KI40 series are used typically in the following applications: small printing machines, plastic processing machines, textile machines, automatic doors and gates, packaging machines, cutting and welding plants, and small drives, stepper motors and generators.

Dual SSI display
The new dual SSI display 575 features two individually scalable encoder inputs, 2x SSI or SSI and TTL (A, /A, B, /B) for counting frequencies up to 1 MHz per channel (can also be used as a single-channel device). It also includes 4 freely programmable fast transistor outputs, each with an output current of 350 mA, which can be programmed as tracking presets. The many different output modes offer additional versatility, which reflects in an easy programming with four keys and programmable dual functions. The function codes depend on the operating mode selected. Its 4 different counting functions such as simple count, difference count, total count or separate displays make this device a multifunctional equipment. The type 575 moreover offers 5 measured values: display of counter 1 and 2, of the value calculated from counter 1 and 2, of the min./max. value.

One device caters for AC and DC power supplies; the dual SSI display 575 can be used both as a position display and as a preset counter with limit values.
The bright 6 or 8-digit LED display (15/10 mm) ensures high legibility. The dual functions allow monitoring or calculating 2 values with respect to each other with a maximum resolution of 32 bits. The device also features 4 fast programmable inputs with various functions such as start delay, key lockout, display memory, reference input or switching between the display values. In addition, a RS232 interface for parameter setting and readout of values for higher-level controllers, as well as a scalable analog output 0/4 ... 20 mA, +/-10 V or 0 ... 10 V for processing the measured value is available as a standard.
