The MQ2004 from IFM Electronic is a magnetically biased position sensor working with IO-Link. It can detect objects even in harsh environments, such as welding applications, thanks to its coated robust metal housing. The sensor can also be mounted behind non-ferromagnetic covers as aluminum, for wear-free use with high machine uptime and reduced downtime.

“Too close” or “Clean up” diagnostic functions

It has two IO-Link switching outputs that can provide a distance value and perform diagnostic functions. For example, the MQ2004 can detect if an object as an insertion device comes too close in the course of time, or if gradual soiling is present, allowing targeted cleaning. The sensor can be connected to the machine controller and be used for OEE indicators. Data can be made available in the ERP system.
