Moxa's new Managed Ethernet Switches of the EDS-405A-PTP series with IEEE 1588v2 PTP (Precision Time Protocol) hardware time stamping ensure the precise time synchronization of networks running Moxa´s Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain topologies. Both topologies offer under 20 ms recovery in networks with up to 250 switches.

EDS-405A-PTP supports both IEEE 1588 Boundary Clock and Transparent Clock, while in Transparent Clock the switches support both End-to-End (2-step) and Peer-to-Peer (2-step) modes. They enable a high-precision time accuracy of under 1 μs.

The switches are designed especially for real-time control applications. They support Modbus TCP, PROFINET RT, and EtherNet/IP for better SCADA integration. Other management functions, such as IGMP snooping, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, QoS, RMON and relay warning, make the network planning more flexible and easy.
