Allowing problem free identification of objects in different distance ranges, ifm electronic’s DTE series UHF read/write units use the 865 to 870 MHz (DTE800) frequency band in Europe and 902 to 928 MHz (DTE900) in the USA. This allows worldwide use. Application-specific antennae can be used for different ranges. In the near field small sized antennae managing short reading ranges are used to achieve high selectivity. Mid range antennae with up to 2m reading ranges are used in near/far fields. Changing distances in wide ranges does not constitute a problem. The new UHF system platform has been designed for various applications in production, intralogistics, conveying, recognition of goods as well as access control systems. With the high protection rating IP 65 for the read unit as well as IP 67 for the antennas the system also meets the requirements of harsh industrial environments.
