EGE offers a range of optical sensors for monitoring fill levels of liquid media irrespective of conductivity or dielectric constant. The units operate by means of a proven infrared light method: during immersion, the refractive index around the sensor tip changes. The sensor continuously analyzes the reflected infrared light and uses it to actuate the switching output. This method requires no adjustment to the liquid. The cost-efficient UFS 075 line of opto sensors is made from stainless steel and features a robust polythersulfone (PES) tip. The units are available with any sensor length between 60 and 1,000 mm, allowing users to configure the ideal solution for their application. For use with chemically aggressive media, EGE offers opto sensors made from especially resistant materials: units from the UFGS series feature a glass tip and withstand aggressive detergents, hydraulic oil, and lubricating oil. The intrinsically safe UFGS Ex and URFG Ex lines consist of special three-wire- and two-wire-models for hazardous areas that are connected to a separate amplifier. Both types are resistant to kerosene and petrol.
