The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, working in concert with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES, has developed a solution that can be used to identify cracks and breakages inside the blades remotely at an early stage.

And the full potential is far from reached: for an entire year of operation, the utility expects energy savings of up to 40 percent.
Leuze SmartID-Edge controls a network of identification systems and sensors for track-and-trace requirements in production and the supply chain. Secure communication between 1D scanners or 2D camera systems takes place at edge level using OPC UA and full integration of the AutoID Companion Specification.
