In recent years, Toyota has been assembling its own lithium-ion battery cells with a unique modular design. They are fully integrated with the truck, offering further benefits and energy savings across their electric range. The design allows a revolution in space and weight-saving truck design, and also provides for multi-life planning, with battery cells projected to serve multiple truck lives, then being deployed to store power generated from sources such as solar panels, before being recycled. 

Improved safety due to unique Toyota charging plug

The lithium-ion solution has a lifetime 3 times greater than of lead-acid batteries. No battery topping or any maintenance is required for the battery, as well as no gassing of the battery (the user can charge it anywhere and whenever).
