To further sharpen and holistically align its global sales activities with customers and markets, Phoenix Contact is expanding its Group Executive Board with the newly established role of Chief Sales Officer (CSO). Effective May 15, 2026, Stephan Volgmann will assume this position within the Group Executive Board. Since July 2020, Volgmann has led Phoenix Contact’s sales organization in Germany and brings extensive industry expertise to centrally steer the company’s market presence. “We are pleased to appoint Stephan Volgmann, an experienced sales expert, who will take on overarching responsibility for key management impulses and further strengthen the strategic alignment of our global sales organization,” says Christoph Klenk, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Phoenix Contact.
By expanding the Group Executive Board to include a Chief Sales Officer, the company firmly anchors customer proximity and growth at the highest leadership level. This step underlines the importance of sales within the overall management of the company.
The Group Executive Board continues to include Chief Executive Officer Dirk Görlitzer, Chief Operating Officer Torsten Janwlecke, Chief Operating Officer Ulrich Leidecker, Chief Technology Officer Frank Possel-Dölken, and Chief Financial Officer Axel Wachholz.
Short biography Stephan Volgmann:
Following a technical apprenticeship, he studied electrical engineering with a focus on communications engineering. Stephan Volgmann joined Phoenix Contact in 2004 in the company’s machine and plant engineering division. In his various roles, he has developed the solutions business in the energy sector together with international customers and sales organizations. Prior to his appointment to the Group Executive Board, he led Phoenix Contact’s German sales organization.
