Schubert North America exhibited for the first time at the ProFood Tech in Chicago in spring 2019. The company presented its portfolio of high-performance, flexible automation solutions based on industry-specific case studies. The highly flexible packaging of yoghurt cups in sleeves and cartons attracted the attention of the audience. There was also great interest in the company’s solutions for fast and efficient packaging of coffee capsules and portion packs for milk, apple sauce or salad dressing.

Schubert North America's Chief Executive Officer, Hartmut Siegel, summarized the show as a good platform to strengthen the company’s network with existing business partners and to meet potential customers with interesting projects. “We see great potential for growth in North America in the show’s focus industries such as dairy, food, frozen foods and pet food. In Europe, we are a leading supplier of packaging machinery in these sectors.”

Innovations for every packaging task

Additionally, Schubert informed the visitors about its new flow-wrapping component: the Flowmodul. The module enables efficient packaging of all types of products into flowpacks, while seamlessly integrating primary, secondary and tertiary packaging processes in a single TLM system. Schubert’s compact Flowmodul saves up to 70 percent of floor space compared to conventional flow-wrapping machines – creating valuable space to extend production capacities.

Another innovation is the new heat-sealing robot which is equipped with a patented flying cross-sealing unit. Heat-sensitive products such as chocolate and cheese can now be packaged even more gently into flow-wrap bags. Schubert now offers its customers a choice of four different sealing technologies. Further innovative technologies, such as the Transmodul transport robot, the integrated 3D image processing system and the GRIPS.world digital customer portal guarantee smooth production processes and maximum line efficiency.

Lightline machine series

Schubert also presented its new lightline machine series, which comprises three preconfigured TLM machines for standardized packaging tasks: compact and efficient machine systems characterized by attractive purchase costs and short delivery times. The series includes the lightline Flowpacker, the lightline Cartonpacker for packaging products into cases and the lightline Pickerline for pick & place applications – and all three can be seamlessly combined into one packaging line.

North America: A key export market remains on growth course

Since establishing its new North American headquarters, in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2015, Schubert has been focusing on expanding its portfolio in North America. Along with continuously advancing its modular technologies, Schubert is strengthening its service portfolio, including customer training programs and fast availability. Further service and sales sites in Dallas, Texas, and Mississauga, Canada, ensure enhanced customer proximity. Moreover, customers in North America benefit from a recently installed additional customer training machine for hands-on operator training.
