S-HTF series ball screws by NSK are enabling to employ servo-electric drives on large powder presses. The pressed parts are produced with high dimensional accuracy, reworking and lowers process. Those applications include gears for automotive transmissions and metalworking. A fine metal powder alloy is poured into a die and shaped under pressure. The intermediate product is sintered achieved hardness, wear resistance and contour precision. The CA-SP Electric and CA-HM Electric powder press series brought to the market Direct Drive Technology (DDT), comprises servo-electric motors and NSK ball screws. The DDT offers greater precision, as electric displacement measurement variables and adjustment criteria are easier to define and program than when using hydraulic drives, ball screws also offers greater stiffness.

Homogeneous workpieces with precision adjustable material properties

The ball screws allow high traversing speed combine with precision and stiffness. Each unit enables high axial forces to be transferred and the wear to be minimal. The S-HTF series have moved from hTF to S-HTF. NSK had developed its S-HTF offering a higher dynamic load capacity with the same dimensions, delivering an extend in the service life with 30% higher dynamic load capacity. Provinding, an optimized balance between hardness and toughness, the TF (though Force) material ensures that hard impurities in the raceway provides smooth out after repeated over-rolling. The new multi-level press is ideal for cost-effective production. Finally, the user profits from reduced maintenance requirement and a compact press footprint. NSK also supplies with rolling bearings required for the axial support of the S-HTF ball screws.
