Siemens Mechanical Drive Systems (Tianjin) Co. Ltd (SMDT) opened a new service center located in the Southern part of China, Guangzhou province. The Foshan Service Center is the fourth one following those in the cities of Tianjin, Taiyuan and Changzhou.
"After the set-up of SMDT's service centers in Beijing-Tianjinarea, Northwest China, East China and North China, we'll further set up distributed networks, which enable us to provide close-distance services for customers," said Mr. Li Lei, General Manager of Mechanical Drive Business Unit, Drive Technologies division, Siemens Ltd., China. "The establishment of the Foshan Service Center represents SMDT's dedication in production management, quality assurance system and customer relations".

The Siemens mechanical drive portfolio includes standard gear units, heavy duty gear units, drive applications, couplings, gears and parts that can be applied to equipments weighted from a few kilograms to hundreds of tons. Before the set up of the distributed service centers, the repair equipments needed to be returned to the manufacturing facility in Tianjin.
"By setting up a distributed service network, Siemens can get closer to customers," said Mr. Wang Biao, General Manager of Product Lifecycle service, Customer Services division, Siemens Ltd., China.

The SMDT Foshan Service covers an area of 3000 square meters. Mr. Joachim Heussmann, General Manager of SMDT said: "The Foshan Service Center provides customers in surrounding areas with workshop services, on-site service, customer consultancy and technical upgrade."
SMDT, previously Flender Power Transmission (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., was acquired by Siemens in 2005 and thus became one of the Siemens operating companies in China. Joachim Heussmann, General Manager Siemens Mechanical Drive Systems in China.
