When visiting Eaton in Hall 11 on stand C71, customers can learn more about the added value of a holistic approach through fully integrated industrial technologies that Eaton and its partners provide for machinery and plants. For the latest news on Eaton’s hydraulic and filtration divisions, stand B15 in Hall 21 will showcase developments in hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems, which have developed a solid reputation for high power density, energy efficiency and data transparency.

Machines and Plants Ready for the Internet of Things

In Hall 11, Eaton will focus on the upgrade of machines and plants to make them ready for the Internet of Things (IoT), plus ensuring availability. Additionally, Eaton will show how to implement intuitive operating concepts and optimisation in terms of energy efficiency. The transparency of data is becoming increasingly important for end customers, and together with T-Systems, Eaton is developing solutions for safe and economical networking within industrial applications. This is proving beneficial in system availability through condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. Furthermore, as a member of the OPC Foundation, Eaton is supporting its customers in the implementation of the OPC-UA standard, both for machine-to-machine and for machine-to-cloud communication. Eaton experts will be on hand to discuss this in both Hall 11 and at the Deutsche Telekom stand A40 in Hall 7.

‘Digital Native’ Generation of Operators

The requirements for human machine interfaces are changing rapidly in conjunction with smart factory concepts and the demands of today’s ‘digital native’ generation of operators. From director level through to the machine operator, users are increasingly expecting the same level of convenience as a smartphone such as modern design, multitouch service and the support of mobile concepts. The RMQ family with new flat design, as well as high performing HMI/PLCs of the XV300 series, combine aesthetic appearance with modern digital design that fully complies with standards.

Circuit protection
is crucial when it comes to maximising machine and system availability. As an expert in the field, Eaton is showing a wide range of products, and offers expertise through various white papers, as well as an extensive handbook which supports the construction of switch cabinets in accordance with UL508A. As the National Electrical Code (NEC2017) is changing this year, North American machine and plant manufacturers will review and adapt systems with respect to short circuit current ratings. Eaton’s experts will be on hand to assist any customers at Hannover who have questions related to North American exports.

The topic of energy efficiency is still a very important issue across all industries, and Eaton offers wide-ranging solutions for both the reliable safe starting and protection of energy efficient drive applications based on IE3 and IE4 motors. The power management company is presenting a range of innovative energy storage systems and power distribution systems that can be utilised within industrial and commercial applications.
